The Research Desk contains independently selected books, courses, and tools relevant to TVOI investigations. Some recommendations may use affiliate links where indicated.
Purpose
The Research Desk is where commercial recommendations live — and the only place they live. It exists so that the evidence record inside each case file can remain entirely free of commercial links.
Selection standard
A work appears here only if it meets all of the following:
- it has been read, used, or independently assessed;
- it is genuinely relevant to the subjects this publication examines;
- it would be recommended in the absence of any commission; and
- its inclusion is not determined by commission rate, merchant relationship, or promotional arrangement.
Recommendations are deliberately few. A long list is a sales page, not a reading list.
Planned sections
- Reading: business and corporate history, economic history, innovation, institutional failure, political economy, historiography, and documentary method.
- Research tools: resources genuinely used in this publication’s own workflow.
- Courses: structured learning directly relevant to the subjects examined here.
- Method: how each recommendation is chosen and reviewed.
What this section is not
Nothing here is evidence. A book listed on this page is not support for any finding in any case file unless it is separately cited in that case file’s own source register. The two are kept apart deliberately.
